Once upon a time..
There was a sad, lonely dragon named Steve. He was the only dragon in Texas. He was yellow with big purple polka dots, and he was really short for a dragon. He spent his days walking around the countryside and wondering why he was all alone. Meanwhile, all the way up in Montana there was a young dragon named Sally. She was pink with a little yellow spot right above her nose. At that moment she was in the middle of a hissy fit because Her parents told her that the whole family was moving to Texas! She didn't even know any dragons in Texas and she wouldn't have any friends!
A few weeks after Sally's family had moved into their tiny, 2 bedroom cave (which she had to share a room in!) she was finally ready to go out and explore her new home. It didn't take long to get bored because she quickly found out that there was nothing to look at there. She decided to go a little further just to see if there was any other dragons around. After about 2 hours of searching she got really tired, but she was too far from home and too exhausted to turn back. She went into a little opening by a lake, sat down, and soon fell asleep.
Steve was on his usual evening walk, because there was nothing else for him to do. The clearing by the lake happened to be one of his favorite places to rest and watch the sun go down. When he go there, to his surprise, he found Sally still sleeping. He looked around to see if there were any other dragons but he saw none. He went over to where she was sleeping and tapped her shoulder. She woke suddenly, terrified that he was going to hurt her. She calmed down when she saw how harmless he was. To Sally he looked like a toddler. He was only about 2 and 1/2 feet tall, much smaller than she was. When he told her that he had no family and that he had been alone here for years, she felt so bad and she decided to take him home with her.
Her parents were really nice dragons and they were happy to have a new family member. In the end, Sally found a new best friend and Steve was no longer the only dragon in Texas!
